Steaming and its Many Benefits

Steaming and its Many Benefits

Steaming can really boost your skin care regime and your overall health and well-being.
It has various benefits and is extremely affordable and easy to incorporate into your skin or self-care regime. So there is no need to break the bank, most steaming techniques can be done at home.

Here’s a list of benefits we have curated:

Aids circulation

The warm steam boosts the blood flow of the skin, delivering oxygen and promoting collagen and elastin production. Leaving the skin nourished with a healthy youthful glow.

It’s Cleansing

Steaming can help with sebum trapped in your hair or skin. Trapped sebum can cause build up of dirt and bacteria. The hot steam will open up the pores loosening blackheads, dandruff and dirt, making it easier to remove from hair and skin. It also allows your skincare products to seep in easier.

Hydration

Steaming adds moisture back to the skin and hair leaving both hair and skin soft and supple. You can steam skin with your essential oil of choice. Add a few drops of your selected essential oil to a bowl of hot water and put the bowl a few inches away from the face and soak up all that goodness.

For your hair, simple household items like avocado or mayonnaise can be used for a good protein steam for your hair. Watch your curls soften up! Apply a hair mask or conditioner onto hair and put a shower cap on and sit under the dryer for 15 minutes or leave shower cap on for 30-45 minutes allowing the natural heat from scalp to steam up your hair. You can also try a hot oil treatment. (Use the email below for consultation for hot oil treatment)

Congestion

Steaming is a good way to release congestion in your chest. 1-2 drops of eucalyptus oil in a basin or bucket filled with hot water will help relieve sinus, congestion and may help manage respiratory diseases (asthma, COPD, bronchitis) symptoms. You can also add a few drops in your bath or get a eucalyptus plant and leave it in the bathroom when you shower. Consult with your doctor before use due to allergies.

Relaxing and Soothing

Add a few drops of lavender, lemon or geranium essential oil into your warm bath water and soak and relax. It can help with aches and stiffness you have been enduring all week. Get the spa feel at home for a fraction of the price!
